Creating Virtual and Remote Service-Learning Experiences – A 3 Part Series
This webinar series is co-sponsored by SF State, facilitated by Dr. Kevin Kelly. This series is designed for faculty interested in or currently teaching service learning (SL), it may also benefit other experiential programs such as academic internships.
Higher education instructors and students around the world recently made a rapid transition to remote teaching and learning. As we prepare more thoughtfully for Summer and Fall 2020, we now ask "How do we create virtual or remote Service-Learning experiences that meet requirements?" Together we will outline how the key components of service-learning pedagogy (e.g., preparation, action, reflection, evaluation) can be adapted to online environments. This three-part webinar series will focus on 1) developing an online/remote learning experiential education course (predominantly focused on service learning, but other experiential programs may benefit); 2) embedding remote SL experiences that are responsive to community needs; and 3) designing critical reflection activities in virtual learning settings. Resources will be provided for all registrants upon completion of each session (e.g., handouts, relevant websites).
