Pedagogies for Inclusive Excellence (PIE)

CEETL approaches its programming from the perspective of inclusive pedagogies.  From our ABCs of equity-minded teaching and learning to our Pedagogies of Inclusive Excellence (PIE) institutes and certificates, our programming is dedicated to providing a caring environment for the campus community to engage in conversations and activities that promote social justice and inclusion in teaching and learning.

Pedagogies for Inclusive Excellence (PIE)

CEETL has organized its faculty development curriculum around four main components that will ultimately lead to certificates on different themes related to Pedagogies for Inclusive Excellence (PIE).

The four slices of PIE include:

  1. Foundational Teaching Skills development, through a series of workshops or an institute;
  2. Specialized Knowlege development, through a deep dive into the discipline with faculty experts;
  3. Peer Learning Communities, a semester-long engagement in reflective teaching practice with faculty peers; and
  4. Reflective Teaching Portfolio, with teaching artifacts and reflections that demonstrate an application of these pedagogies for inclusive excellence into one’s own teaching.

Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) Online PIE

This summer and fall, funded by a CARES-2 allocation to support faculty as they transition to remote instruction, we are offering Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) Online PIE.  These offerings are optional and can be taken individually, in sequence, or simultaneously. Digital badges, certificates, and stipends will be awarded upon completion of the requirements.
