WAC/WID Workshop: Syllabus and Assignment Design

Support for Teaching Writing Offered through CEETL

Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines (WAC/WID), now part of CEETL, announces a workshop series. Workshops will be followed by a ½ office hour where we can discuss any issues related to teaching writing. Advance registration is not required.

WAC/WID Workshop: Syllabus & Assignment Design

In anticipation of the spring term, this session will begin with a 30 minute presentation on best  practices  related to designing a syllabus for a writing-intensive course and on effectively scaffolding and designing assignments throughout the course in order to help students build skills incrementally. Facilitators Juliana van Olphen and Jolie Goorjian will guide the discussion, and look forward to discussing with faculty how they may want to revise their syllabi based on their previous experiences with their writing-intensive course.

For the last ½ hour, we will open up the discussion to any topics related to teaching and assessing writing. Consider joining for all of the session or any part of it! The presentation will be recorded so faculty can access this through our Writing PIE iLearn site.  Please contact wac@sfsu.edu if  you would like to be added to that iLearn site.
