CEETL offers a variety of annual events and programming, such as the Open Classrooms: Teaching as a Specta(c)tor Sport, the annual Faculty Retreat, a week-long curriculum for new faculty each year at the beginning of the fall semester, and more!

Faculty Retreat
CEETL develops programming and hosts the annual Faculty Retreat, where, for example, faculty and other invited members of the University community can share their pedagogies, participate in workshops, showcase their research, scholarship, and creative activities. Each year, we also provide a week-long curriculum for new faculty at the beginning of the fall semester.

Open Classrooms
Faculty at SF State are invited to take part in “Open Classrooms: Teaching as a Specta(c)tor Sport,” where faculty open their classrooms to their peers in the spirit of making teaching more public. Referencing Augusto Boal’s concept of “Specta(c)tors” rather than passive “spectators,” this initiative provides space for active witnessing of one another’s classes.
